This panel with door assembly spans the gap between the top of the radiator and the body at the front of the hood opening on Factory Five MK3-4 Roadsters with FFR 4-bar linkage hood hinges. In addition to streamlining and simplifying the look of the engine compartment, there are two functional modes. When the air pressure in the engine compartment is greater than the air pressure in front of the radiator, such as when the fan is on and the car is stopped, the door remains closed. This aids cooling by preventing heated engine compartment air from being recycled back over the top of the radiator. When the air pressure in the engine compartment is less than the air pressure in front of the radiator, such as at highway speed an even with the fan on, the door opens to allow excess cool air to flow directly into the engine compartment. This adds to the cooling capacity provided by the already maxxed out radiator and fan. Finish is semi-gloss black powder-coat. Rivet holes are pre-located to make installation a breeze. Includes rivets and instructions. Made in USA. See also #70696 for cowl cover designed for use with our 35201 traditional hood hinge kit. See also #70031 for cowl cover kit without active vent.
