35201 Traditional Hood Hinge Kit for Mk3-3.1-4 Roadster

This kit is made by Extreme Fabrications for your Mk3, Mk3.1, and Mk4* roadster hood. It is designed to solve the interference problem between the hinge arms and the radiator that can occur with other traditional hinges. The hinge pivots are welded to a crossbar that bolts to the FFR 3/4″ frame tubes. (Can be welded at customer option) Thread forming screws are used to attach the hinge arm to the hood liner. Includes a polished stainless steel prop-rod for the passenger side. Why the passenger side? Because the sequence of operation at the typical car show is get out of car, open driver side hood latch, walk to passenger side, open passenger side hood latch, open and prop hood from passenger side! Made in USA.
Requires adaptor plate 35246 for Mk2 and below.

* January 2024 we have had a customer with a Mk4 demonstrate that with the front of the body raised up from the engine compartment side tubes about 1/2″ as is recommended by knowledgeable builders Jeff Kleiner and Paul Borror, the hinge arm plates do not meet flush with the mounting pads of the hood.
